What comes to mind when you think of worship? Is it a formal occasion? Is it a joyous occasion? Does it contain certain rituals? Are you involved? Are you praising God? Are you learning? Are you hearing from God? Are you in contemplation? Are you singing? Are you praying? Are you alone, or with other people?

Nate Fowler

Here are FCC we feel that worship is an act of DOING. Engaging our lives to honor God. This is not restricted to a time of songs on Sunday morning, although the songs we sing together are a time to invest our lives into a relationship with God, the meaning of worship should overflow into our everyday lives. Worship is not something that is bound to walls or buildings; worship is a state of mind and heart that seeks to GIVE honor to God for the life that we have been given. As is true with many terms used among Christians, the word “worship” can become a cliché devoid of significant content if we don’t stop to consider it’s meaning.

When we think about what it is to worship, we must realize the purpose for honoring God.

1.) Jesus died on the cross, paid for our sin, rose three days later and is alive in our lives offering salvation and purpose. That seems worthy of honor. (Matthew 27:45/Matthew 28)

2.) Jesus offers unconditional love and grace even though we are continually turningour backs to him and seeking out selfish desires. That seems worthy of honor. (Romans 5:8)

3.) We have been given salvation, passion, purpose, and LOVE at the cost that Jesus has paid. That seems worthy of honor.
(John 3:16)

Why would we come and DO worship? Simply said, God is worthy of honor and thanksgiving.

At Foothills we love to use music to help lead our hearts into a place to meet with God. We focus on finding songs that are current and relevant within our culture that can support a time of corporate connection with Christ. If it is your first time and you are simply investigating this “Jesus” thing, welcome! If you are seeking a community to become rooted and continue your growth and relationship with God, welcome! When we enter this place, we are all here for the same thing, to become better at honoring God in our lives.

Together we find our community.
